How ETHOS Uses Sponsorship Funds
Festivals & Programming
ETHOS curates and presents over 500 purpose-driven films each year, reaching audiences in more than 180 countries. Films address urgent federal priorities: mental health, suicide prevention, addiction recovery, environmental justice, animal protection, and human rights. Funding ensures that students, foster youth, disabled and neurodiverse filmmakers, unhoused artists, elders, and survivors of violence share a platform alongside Academy Award winners.
Education & Wonderlabs
ETHOS integrates film into K–12 and higher education through LAUSD showcases, student PSA competitions, and ETHOS Wonderlabs. These programs bring award-winning filmmakers and industry professionals into classrooms and community spaces, providing mentorship, training, and internship pathways. Outcomes include hundreds of students annually trained in storytelling as prevention and advocacy tools, and foster youth gaining direct access to employment opportunities in the creative sector.
Community & Inclusion
Funding supports broad-based community participation through free access passes for students, elders, foster youth, and unhoused participants. Specialized initiatives include the Disability Filmmaker Award (travel, lodging, and project grant for disabled and neurodiverse artists) and Career-Path Packages that employ foster and at-risk youth in festival production roles. These programs break down barriers to access and expand equitable participation in the arts.
Panels & Outreach
ETHOS turns films into campaigns for awareness and prevention. Sponsorships support expert-led panels, community forums, and social impact campaigns on issues like suicide prevention, fentanyl awareness, environmental stewardship, and animal protection. Outcomes include scalable public health messaging through student-produced PSAs and community programs that extend beyond the festival.
Accountability
ETHOS Film Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with all funds applied to programming, education, and inclusion initiatives. Federal investment in ETHOS directly strengthens youth development, public health awareness, inclusion, and community resilience through the arts.
